The plan calls for the construction of a new Trigg County Primary School building, with a cost estimate of $14,129,759. The current building has a capacity of 500 students and currently serves 497; the new building would have a student capacity of 600, though no timetable has been set.
“Please note that the project may be constructed in Phases to include Phase I being the district wide Preschool,” the plan states, adding that the new building would be “on a new site to be determined.”
The plan also calls for the construction of six new pre-school classrooms at the Trigg County Elementary School and estimates a cost of $1,434,831. Matt Ladd, director of operations for Trigg County Schools and principal of the Vocational School, says they’re using portable classrooms currently.
Although no action was taken at the meeting, Ladd, Trigg County School Superintendent Travis Hamby and Board members discussed bonding potential and possible locations for new classrooms.
