For the fifth consecutive year, Trigg County Hospital and others are participating in a Trigg County version of the Biggest Loser, and while the basic concept remains the same, there are some changes.

“Participation has increased every year, and the community seems to anticipate each new contest,” said Janet James, Director of Human Resources and Compliance for Trigg County Hospital.

The first weigh-ins will be from 7 – 9 a.m., 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 4 – 6 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 7, at Curves, a new location this year, and the contest will end on Monday, April 1. James says that as in previous years, Participating teams can go on-line each week and post their weight loss on the local Biggest Loser Facebook page, where they will have a chance to win a case of water from Culligan.

How the prize money is distributed this year is different. There will be a “Maintainer” prize this year for the person who weighs in on Jan. 7 with a weight that is the same as or less than their weigh-out weight last April, said James.

“They will continue to maintain/lose through April 1, with a prize awarded for the individual with the most percentage of loss among those ‘maintaining’ individuals,” James said.
