The Gateway Garden Club has had several activities during December. The members decorated a holiday tree at the Janice Mason Art Museum, called the Nature of Christmas, on Nov. 29. The tree was decorated with dried plant materials.

The motion was made by Tom Malmer to purchase two trees to plant at the Blue Star Garden in memory of Anna Mullen’s mother, Eleanor Mussman, and Becky Oliver’s mother, Winnie Brandon. The motion passed.

The club planted two pink Robinson Crab trees at the garden on Dec. 1. These trees have multi-seasonal qualities and the birds enjoy their fruit. The regular Christmas luncheon was held on Dec. 5 as the club traveled toward Princeton to eat at the Breeze Farm Restaurant. After the meal, members returned to the Blue Star Garden to dedicate the trees.

Tom Malmer read a poem that reflected on trees in respect to loved ones and memories. Jim Mullen also gave a short program and read a poem of friendship in the loss of loved ones.
