Funeral services for Nella Cothran, 91, of Brooke, Ind., formerly of LaPorte, Ind., were held on Friday, Jan. 4, 2013, at Gerts Funeral Home of Brook, Ind. The Rev. Jack Cox officiated. Interment followed at Chapel Lawn Memorial Cemetery in Schereville, Ind.

Nella Cothran died at 12:25 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2013, at Geroge Ade Memorial Health Care, Brook, Ind.

Nella was born on July 18, 1921, in Golden Pond to Alvin and Tempie Lee Dixon Scott.

Nella was a homemaker and volunteered as an aide at the LaPorte Hospital.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Alton Cothran; five brothers and three sisters.

Nella is survived by two sons, William Glenn Cothran (and wife Vivian) of Brook, Ind. and Dolton Ray Cothran (and wife Ruth) of Beaver Island, Mich.; six grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
