Frank Johnson died on Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013, at Jennie Stuart Medical Center in Hopkinsville.
Frank was a member of Calvary Missionary Baptist Church. He was a United States Army veteran having served in Vietnam. Frank retired from the United States Army and worked for the Civil Service. He was member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Disabled American Veterans and National Alliance for Retired Federal Employees.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents, Jack Johnson and Mattie Lou Dotson; three brothers, Joe Johnson, Charles Vanover and George Garner, Jr.; and one sister, Jean Lovell.
Frank is survived by his wife, Kathleen Johnson of Cadiz; five brothers, Dale Johnson of Cincinnati, Ohio, Glen Johnson of Dayton, Ohio, Donnie Garner of Alliance, Ohio, Bobby Garner of Dayton, Ohio and Billy Garner of Blanchester, Ohio; one sister, Sharon Kaye Elkins of Petersburg; two sons, Frank “Sonny” Johnson, Jr. of Burlington, Jason Johnson (and wife Barbara) of Perugia, Italy; three daughters, Sheena Johnson of Honolulu, Hawaii, Athena Sivongsa (and husband Boun) of Hampton, Va. and Roseleen Root (and husband Andy) of Louisville; and six grandchildren, Bryce Sivongsa, Dylan Johnson, Zachary Johnson, Cosimo Johnson, Embree Root and Jordan Root.
Serving as pallbearers were Donnie Garner, Andy Root, Frank “Sonny” Johnson, Jr., Dylan Johnson, Boun Sivongsa, Glen Johnson and Michael Vanover. Music was provided by Calvary Missionary Baptist Church Choir, and Joan Terrell, pianist. Wendell Greene performed the “Soldiers Lament” during the committal service.
