Grace was a patrolman from April 2006 until January 2011, when he was promoted to sergeant, and after then-Chief Hollis Alexander was named as the new Trigg County Judge Executive, he applied for the open position. He has also worked in the Christian and Todd County Sheriff’s Offices before that.
He was nominated by Council member Todd King, who chairs the City’s Personnel Committee, and Council member Frankie Phillips seconded that motion, and after no discussion the vote was 6 - 0.
Alexander swore him in at the end of the meeting. Alexander was the Police Chief until the beginning of the year, and is filling out the remaining two years of Stan Humphries’ unexpired term.
“I’m honored, there was a good group of guys to choose from,” he said, adding that he will “hit the ground running.”
The City Council also unanimously approved appointments to the Cadiz/Trigg County Tourist Commission. Returning members representing local hotels and motels include Knights Inn owner Deepak Patel and Lake Barkley State Resort Park Administrator John Jordan; Prizer Point owner Greg Batts has also previously been on the board.
