Four Trigg County wrestlers earned that opportunity. Malik Cunningham snagged a first place win at 140 pounds. With an undefeated middle school record and a winning record on the high school varsity team, Cunningham, an eighth grader at Trigg County Middle, earned the top seed in his weight class at the regional tournament.
Devonta Turner (92) and Colin Stevens (105) both finished third in their respective weight classes. Turner, an eighth grader, has gone 8-2 for the middle school squad and also wrestles on the high school varsity team. Cunningham and Turner both advanced to state competition last year. Stevens, a fifth grader at Trigg County Intermediate School, earned the top spot in his weight class at last year’s elementary state championship.
Cole Darnell will also compete at the regional tournament after his fifth place win earned an available spot at the regional tournament.
