Mildred Mitchell died of natural causes at 11:35 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 25, 2013, at Jennie Stuart Medical Center in Hopkinsville.
She was born on April 7, 1933, in Trigg County to John Otha and Leona Belle Green Chewning.
Mildred was a member of Locust Grove Baptist Church, where she served as a Sunday school teacher. She retired from Jennie Stuart Medical Center where she worked as a cashier.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Wallace, Charles and Kenneth Chewning.
Mildred is survived by her husband, Henry Mitchell of Gracey; one sister, Edna Taylor of Hopkinsville; two sons, Dale Mitchell (and wife Carol) of Mulberry, Fla. and Gary Mitchell (and wife Tanya) of Charlotte, N.C.; one daughter, Karla Edmonson (and husband Tim) of Gracey; grandchildren Kimberly Mitchell, Kevin Mitchell, Kaycee Redd, Nicholas Mitchell, Megan Redd Marsh, Andrew Mitchell and Suzanne Mitchell; great-grandchildren Brady, Cayden and Kane Mitchell; step-grandchildren Jason Sitman and Jennifer Crapse; step-great-grandchildren Landon Smith and Harper Sitman.
Serving as pallbearers were Kevin Mitchell, Andrew Mitchell, Matt Marsh, Larry Bailey, Gayle Outland and Bill Dockery. Music was provided by Locust Grove Baptist Church Choir; Karla Edmonson, vocalist and Peggy Hargis, instrumentalist.
