The ordinance had been amended from the version that was first read at the December court meeting. The change concerned specifying that the project should be awarded to the contractor submitting the lowest bid.
“That was language that the majority, if not all, of the court members here at the first reading wanted in the ordinance,” county attorney Randall Braboy said during the meeting.
Magistrate Jeff Broadbent asked Braboy how that change would affect the bidding process. Braboy said, “Caution would tell me that it should be rebid,” but added that the final decision would be made by the hospital’s board of directors and finance corporation. The project must also be approved by the Cadiz City Council.
In other court business concerning the hospital, TCH chief executive officer Alisa Coleman and chief financial officer Diana Phillips presented the hospital’s annual progress report, accountant’s report and financial statement.
