Trigg County School Superintendent Travis Hamby (above) explained the budget to the Trigg County Board of Education when they met Thursday night.
“It’s very early for this conversation. As you know, every year, there’s so many unknowns at this point,” said Trigg County School Superintendent Travis Hamby. “This is a draft budget, it’s something that we have to do prove that we’re beginning to have conversations around the upcoming school year.”
Hamby says there is a carry forward (contingency or rainy day fund) of $5,369,886, and that they expect to get $6,765,193 in SEEK (Support Education Excellence in Kentucky) money from the state.
He also says they’ve received $5,288,152 in impact aid revenue from 2009 up to the current fiscal year. This is the money they receive in lieu of the property taxes they would receive from federally owned lands if they locally owned, in this case Land Between the Lakes and Fort Campbell. Of that, they’ve spent $2,027,161, and of what they have left, $2,476,315 is restricted.
