Dr. Scott Sutherland, who chairs the Trigg County Health Board, said they are willing to pay $8,500 of the additional $17,000 it would cost to have the Wildcat Clinic – located at the Trigg County Primary/Intermediate School – running with both the nurse and clerk and with all its current hours. After the next fiscal year, they’ll renegotiate.
It would have cost that much extra because the Pennyrile District Health Department, which runs the Clinic, because the PDHD has to pay back 30 percent of its Medicaid funding to the state, a process called Medicaid Match, said PDHD Director Allison Beshear. She also says that health departments are the only medical organizations that have to do this.
Trigg County School Superintendent Travis Hamby didn’t think it prudent at a previous meeting to go ahead and pay the extra $17,000, but he recommended they spend up to $8,500 extra and commended the Trigg County Health Board for their help.
