After a 65-53 loss last Tuesday at Webster County, the Wildcats knocked off Christian County 82-77 on Friday and then squeaked by Caldwell County 62-61 on Monday.
Against the Colonels, Trigg led by 11 points after the first quarter and held off any rally attempts. Cole Gardner led all players with 31 points, followed by Deonquez Nance with 29 and David Wease with 12.
“We have played tough competition since Christmas,” Trigg head coach Mike Wright said, noting two close losses to Webster County, a poor performance against Lyon County and a short-handed loss at Crittenden County. “At Christian County, our kids put it together and had a marvelous effort. Deonquez was wonderful against their man-to-man, and Cole had a game for the ages.”
Wright also praised the play of Dee Murphy as the team’s floor general, as well as Jonta Acree, who came off the bench and grabbed eight rebounds and blocked eight shots.
