Aaron Stevens already had the Trigg County record for takedowns in a career. Now, he holds the single season mark, as well.

Stevens, a junior, was one of three Wildcat grapplers to pick up first place finishes in their weight classes Saturday at Calloway County, where Trigg finished third as a team.

Stevens, who also holds the school record in wins with 104, was joined by teammates Daniel Ingram and Ryan Gallogly, all winners at Calloway. Jayven Jones finished second in his division, while Malik Cunningham and Maurice Catlett each finished third and Austin Durham and Devonte Turner were fourth.

At the end of Saturday’s event, Stevens had a season total of 64 takedowns. The previous record of 57 was held by his father and current Trigg head coach Ralph Stevens.

The high school team returns to action Thursday at Clarksville (Tenn.) Northeast, while middle school wrestlers Cunningham and Turner will attend the middle school state championship meet Saturday at Montgomery County. Colin Stevens will also attend as an alternate.
