Trigg County Middle School team among Governor’s Cup winners

On Thursday, Jan. 17, and Saturday, Jan. 19, the KAAC Region 2 District 5 Middle Grades competition was held at the Dawson Springs High School.

Academic teams from Dawson Springs, Trigg County, Caldwell County, and West Hopkins Schools competed in Future Problem Solving, Composition, Language Arts, Science, Social Studies, Mathematics, Arts and Humanities, and Quick Recall. Students could compete in any three areas. Four member teams compete in Future Problem Solving and Quick Recall.

Winners from Trigg County Middle School who will advance to Regionals at Hopkinsville Middle School on Jan. 29 and Feb. 2 were: Caleb Davis, 1st place Mathematics; Garrett McCormick, 4th place Science; Seth Futrell, 1st place Social Studies; Matthew Skinner, 4th place Social Studies; Belinda Perry, 2nd place Arts and Humanities; Mandee Schermerhorn, 3rd place Language Arts; Matthew Skinner, 5th place Language Arts; Alex Ethridge, 3rd place Compositionl; Anne Marie McAtee, 4th place Composition; Future Problem Solving Team, 1st place; Overall, 1st place.

Coaching them this year is Jim Garnett.
