Kenneth Landis died of natural causes at 8:30 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 1, 2013, at Shady Lawn Nursing Center in Cadiz.
He was born on July 15, 1930, in Altoona, Pa., to Kenneth and Grace Barnett Landis.
Kenneth graduated in 1952 from Penn State University with a degree in industrial engineering. He started his engineering career during his junior year at Penn State with Jeffrey’s Manufacturing and after graduation took a position in Columbus, Ohio.
While in Columbus, he served as president of the Society of Industrial Engineers. During that time, he took a position as plant manager with Hart-Carter, Inc., and moved to Mendota, Ill. While at Hart-Carter, he was promoted to divisional manager, where he was responsible for the engineering and construction of the main plant headquarters in Mendota and had supervision responsibility of four other plants.
He retired in 1995. During his retirement years, he and his wife, Dee, re-located to Cadiz where they are members of Cadiz United Methodist Church.
Kenneth Landis was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Grace Landis.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Leah “Dee” Landis of Cadiz; one brother, James Landis of Tampa, Fla.; one son, Jeffery Landis (and wife Debbie) of Pekin, Ill.; one daughter, Cheryl Stallings (and husband Terry) of Creve Coeur, Ill.; grandchildren Jeremy Stallings and Jessica Insellman, Brandie Stallings, Courtney Landis Miller, Ryan Landis; great-grandchildren Brayden Stallings and Brody Stallings.
