At their first meeting last Wednesday evening, members of the Cadiz Tree Board spitballed back and forth about what to do for Arbor Day.

Peter Barber of the Kentucky Division of Forestry was on hand to give them advice on how to proceed both with Arbor Day events and what to do after Arbor Day.

The general feeling amongst board members was that whatever Arbor Day ceremony they hold, and whenever they decide to hold it (Arbor Day is on Monday, April 1, in Kentucky), it should probably be at the East End Cemetery. They will hash out the details at their Tuesday, Feb. 12 meeting, held at 5:30 p.m. at Cadiz City Hall.

“You’ve got all walks of life buried in East End Cemetery,” said Board Chair Jackie Franklin.

The Tree Board consists of Franklin, Cadiz Renaissance Director Leida Underhill, Renaissance Board member Paul Fourshee, Board Secretary Becky Boggess, Ricky Turner of Pennyrile Rural Electric Cooperative Corporationand Cadiz City Council member Gary Polete.
