To the editor:

In response to Jason Darnell (Jan. 20, 2013 letter published in the Paducah Sun), I would like to address a few things he did not mention. Louisville students did not riot in the streets burn cars, etc. when they beat Kentucky as Kentucky did last year when they beat Louisville. (A disgrace to the state.) Louisville athletes do not have to rely on tutors to sustain grade point averages. Louisville does not run a dog mill for the NBA. Kentucky failed to make the state great by not winning the SEC last year. The state would have had three colleges winning three different conferences, a title no other state could claim. They did win the National title, I will agree. As for coverage, while the media and dog mills were ballyhooing Kentucky, where was the coverage for when they were on a hot streak last year and when Louisville won the Sugar Bowl over No. 3 ranked Florida Gators? Quoting Charles Barkley recent statement “No player on the Kentucky team will make the draft in 2013.” Louisville, Murray and Western Kentucky do have a few thousand fans in Kentucky. It’s a shame the media thinks they are second-rate schools, as do some people in this area. There are many students who attend these schools and I’m sure feel hurt by some of the statements Mr. Darnell made.

I’m sure I have wasted my time addressing this, but just wanted you to know my feelings. Go Cards, Racers and Hilltoppers. We are behind you 100 percent.
