Funeral services for Carlene Calhoun Kennedy, 88, of Cadiz, were held on Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013, at Caldwell Blue Spring Baptist Church in Caldwell County. The Rev. Geoff Baggett officiated. Burial followed in the Caldwell Blue Spring Church Cemetery. Goodwin Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Carlene Kennedy died of natural causes at 8:01 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2013, at Trigg County Hospital in Cadiz.

Carlene was born on March 18, 1924, in Trigg County to the late Tandy Harrison “Jack” and Trudy Gordon Puckett Calhoun.

Carlene was a member of Crossroads Fellowship. She retried from Trigg County Hospital after 17 years of service where she was a LPN. Carlene was also a Kentucky Colonel.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edmond Lucian Kennedy; three sisters, Bessie Stepnik, Pearl Faughn and Lora Dell Tyler; and three brothers, Hershel Calhoun, Taylor Calhoun and Andrew “Big Boy” Calhoun.

Carlene is survived by one son, Jim Kennedy (and wife Sheila) of Newburgh, Ind.; three daughters, Patricia Williams (and husband Jim) of Eddyville, Wanda Birdsong of Cadiz and Trudy Allen (and husband Robert) of Cadiz; five grandchildren, Lisa Oetjen, Kendal Birdsong, Heather Holland, Meagan Nolley and Jason Clark; six great-grandchildren, Kyle Oetjen, Kaci Oetjen, Ethan Hughes, Kaylee Holland, Kelsi Clark and Brayden Nolley; and several nieces and nephews.

Serving as pallbearers were Kelly Oetjen, Kyle Oetjen, Gayle Grant, Bobby Carneyhan, Roger Kennedy and Billy Joe Stallons. Music was provided by Joan and Marc Terrell, pianist and vocalist. Memorial donations may be made to: Cadiz Gideon Camp, P.O. Box 65, Cadiz, KY 42211.
