Patricia Dawson (above), a Trigg graduate, read her first book, “Adventures of Farmer Bill,” to Trigg grade school students last Tuesday afternoon. The back of the book says it “depicts the simplicity of life experienced by children who are learning and developing their social skills.”
Dawson, who grew up in the Caledonia area, said she enjoyed coming back to the schools. The reading started off with the group in the Trigg County Primary/Intermediate School Library.
“It felt great, it felt great,” she said. “It felt good to be back. It’s my home, it’s where I grew up … I have family members that still live there.”
Dawson, who was 16 when she graduated from Trigg County High School in 1968, went on to graduate from Murray State University in 1972. She then taught English and history at TCHS for eight years, retiring in 1980 and then moved to Nuremberg, Germany, before coming back.
She said the book has strong moral undertones and the characters are special in that they represent everyday people in everyday situations.
