The Trigg County Wildcats won 99-89 last Tuesday at Todd County Central and 80-62 Thursday against Fort Campbell to end the regular season with a record of 17-8.

Against Todd, Deonquez Nance led Trigg with 36 points, Cole Garnder added 28, Corbin Estes had 16 and Dee Murphy 14.

Thursday, Gardner tied a school record with nine three-pointers. He joins Chris Radford (1988 against Caldwell County), Chris Sparks (1996 against West Hopkins) and Rodney Davis (2006 against Crittenden County) on the list.

Gardner led against Fort Campbell with 30 points, followed by seniors Nance with 18, David Wease with 16 and Murphy with 12. It was the final regular season game for the seniors.

Trigg opened play in the 5th District Tournament on Tuesday against Crittenden County (results unavailable at press time). The winner will advance to Friday’s district championship to face the winner of Tuesday’s game between Lyon County and Livingston Central. Both winners will advance to the 2nd Region Tournament at Hopkinsville next week.

Prior to the Fort Campbell game, the team learned that Nance was voted 2nd Region Player of the Year by the Kentucky Association of Basketball Coaches.
