Tami Bauer, parent to a 13-year-old seventh grade student who goes to Trigg County Middle School, says a teacher threw a textbook at her son on Wednesday, Jan. 23.

“He threw the book at him overhanded and hit him in the head,” said Bauer. “He says that it hurt, and he took off and went to the bathroom, washed himself.”

Trigg County School Superintendent Travis Hamby said disciplinary action will be taken against the teacher, whom neither he nor Bauer nor law enforcement officials would identify by name. He added that details about the nature of the disciplinary action and the investigation couldn’t be released because of board policies.

Bauer said she said she didn’t hear of it from her son – who has been diagnosed with Tourette syndrome – for about a week and a half, and she was never contacted by school officials about it and she found out about it elsewhere, so she went to the Cadiz Police Department, who is investigating the matter.
