Memorial services for Karen Brown, 61, of Cadiz, were held on Sunday, March 3, 2013, at Cerulean Baptist Church in Cerulean. The Revs. Mike Neal and Gary Mitchell officiated. Goodwin Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Karen Brown died following a long battle with cancer at 2:45 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2013, at her home in Cadiz.

She was born on July 14, 1951, in Casper, Wyo., to Edward W. Piper and Mamie Seeley Piper.

Karen was a member of Cerulean Baptist Church and had worked as assistant manager at Fred’s department store in Cadiz.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Ellen Hardenburger.

She is survived by her husband, Dennis Brown of Cadiz; two brothers, Richard Piper, of Oshkosh, Neb. and Bill Piper of Denver, Colo.; four sisters, Sharon Christensen of Denver, Colo., Cathy Llewlyn, Holly Madigan and Mary Lou Moore, all of Casper, Wyo.; one son Paul Smith (and wife Tracie) of Cadiz; three step-daughters, Amy White (and husband Jacob) of Powell, Tenn., Alicia Scott (and husband Robert) and Angie Bonefas (and husband Jeff), all of Independence, Iowa; 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
