Madisonville Disposal, which has provided residential garbage pickup services in Cadiz for three years, will continue to do so for another three years.

When the Cadiz City Council met last Tuesday evening, Council members unanimously approved them over three other contractors - Freedom Waste, Clarksville Disposal and Waste Path – as they provided the lowest bid.

Cadiz City Council member Manuel Brown – who chairs the City’s Finance Committee – made the motion, which Cadiz City Council member Todd King seconded.

Madisonville Disposal will charge $10 per month for residential garbage collection, with commercial rates ranging from $32 – 408 per month, depending on the size of the garbage container and the number of times garbage is collected per week.

“We’d like to thank everybody that came … to the bid opening on Thursday, Feb. 28,” said Brown.

Cadiz City Clerk Lisa Rogers said that under the new contract, Madisonville Disposal can adjust their rates every year.
