Not much was decided when the Trigg County Public Hospital Corporation Board met last Wednesday evening, but they discussed Trigg County Hospital’s proposed $7.1 million surgical wing expansion project.

During what Trigg County Judge Executive Hollis Alexander called an “informative session,” the board talked about the project outline, what can be expected next and what the board needs to do at their next meeting – which will be held at 5:30 p.m. Thursday in the basement of the Trigg County Courthouse Annex.

Steve Rutland, Vice President of Project Management for American Health Facilities Development, a firm based out of Brentwood, Tenn., said one next step for the board is to “seek permission to release the architect to start the construction documents phase,” which he said was the final of the three design phases.

“We’ve completed the design development phase, we’ve basically been holding, waiting for this … funding to get approved by the county and the city,” said Rutland. “That’s happened in the last couple of weeks.”

At their next meeting, they will have to approve the scope of the project, the project delivery method and the project schedule, said Alexander. Rutland says they’ll have to work to keep the project within budget.
