Local artists Curran Copeland and Ken Roberts were chosen to exhibit specially created works of art for the 10th Anniversary invitational Berea Art exhibit in Berea Kentucky. Only selected Kentucky Crafted artists were invited to submit selections for consideration. Trigg County will have more representation at the show than any other county in the state.

Curran Copeland, a Kentucky Crafted artist, handcrafts vintage toys and housewares from wood. His work is currently available at Cadiz Comfort Zone here in Cadiz and is displayed at various locations around the country including the Hilton Hotel Chain.

Ken Roberts, also a Kentucky Crafted Artist, creates whimsical metal fish wall hangings. He has been commissioned to create pieces in excess of 10 feet in length. His metal works of art also include snakes and most recently, birds. Ken’s work is also available locally at the Cadiz Comfort Zone and the Janice Mason Art Museum.

“It just came to me, and I just started messing with it, it developed pretty easily after that,” said Roberts, who went on to say that he uses mostly recycled materials for his sculptures. “I’ve made three-dimensional artwork for photography and the movies, that sort of thing for a long time.”

“I like wooden toys,” said Copeland. “I have always enjoyed toys, I’ve always enjoyed history and I’ve always enjoyed woodworking. The wooden toys put all of them together, and I like making them.”
