In the season-opener at Christian County, Trigg jumped out to a 1-0 lead, fell behind 3-1 and tied the score with a pair of runs in the top of the sixth inning. However, the Colonels matched that output in the bottom of the frame and shut Trigg down in the seventh.
The ‘Cats got their first mercy-rule win of the season over Todd, plating 10 runs in the first inning and four more in the third.
Trigg failed to capitalize on a bases-loaded opportunity late in Saturday’s loss at Webster County. Trailing by two entering the seventh, the ‘Cats managed a run but couldn’t get the tying score across the plate.
The Wildcats were scheduled to host Mayfield on Tuesday (results unavailable at press time) before hosting Christian County on Thursday, playing Friday at Paducah Tilghman, hosting Marshall County on Saturday and playing Monday at Madisonville-North Hopkins.
