Funeral services for Viola Christine Hughes, 92, of Christian County, were held on Friday, March 15, 2013, at Hughart and Beard Funeral Home in Hopkinsville. The Rev. Greg Giltner officiated. Burial followed in Greenhill Memorial Gardens in Christian County. Hughart and Beard Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Viola Hughes died of natural causes on Tuesday, March 5, 2013, at Christian Health Care Center in Hopkinsville.

She was born on Oct. 13, 1920, in Christian County to the late Thomas Arthur Litchfield and Hallie LaVela Fowler Litchfield.

Viola was a homemaker and a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband Ray Bryant Hughes in 1985 and one daughter, Cynthia “Cindy” McGuire.

She is survived by one brother, Keith D. Litchfield (and wife Sue) of Hopkinsville; one son, Thomas Paul Hughes (and wife Jan) of Alabama; four daughters, Sheryl Christina Rogers (and husband Eldridge) of Hopkinsville, Paula Jane Lile (and husband Clyde) of Christian County, Jana Allyne Cope (and husband Bob) of Hopkinsville and Lisa Rhea Perrin (and husband the late Jim Perrin) of Hopkinsville; 13 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
