A Cadiz woman and her great-grandson, who were reported missing Thursday night, were found later Thursday night. But while the baby was alive in his car seat, the woman was found dead.

Trigg County Sheriff Ray Burnam said 63-year-old Waynette Miller Cain and her seven-month-old great-grandson were reported missing at about 9 p.m. Thursday night, and that no foul play was suspected. Trigg County Rescue, Burnam said, searched Christian and Trigg counties.

When they were located on South Road late Thursday night by Trigg County Rescue, the seven-month-old was alive but Cain was dead, after which the Kentucky State Police took over, said Burnam.

A report by Kentucky State Police Trooper Michael Robichaud said that at about 3:15 p.m., Cain was driving south on South Road, at about the five-mile marker. Trigg County Coroner John Mark Vinson put the time of death at about 3:15 p.m., saying it was “within seconds” of the accident.
