Trigg County High School’s softball team opened its 2013 season by winning two of its first four games.

The Lady Wildcats won 6-1 at Russellville in the season opener before winning one of three in a home tournament Saturday, topping Fort Campbell 15-5 and losing a pair of one-run contests – 6-5 to Caldwell County and 7-6 to Paducah Tilghman.

Trigg pitchers Brittney Hallgren and Allison Russell each pitched two games, and each finished with 1-1 records. Hallgren struck out 12 and allowed only three hits in the season-opening win, and Russell fanned 13 against Fort Campbell.

Trigg scored at least six runs in each of the first four games, the longest such streak since 2004, when the Lady ‘Cats won their last 5th District Tournament championship. Trigg hasn’t won a district tournament game since 2005.

Monday’s scheduled game against Webster County was postponed due to rain. Trigg is set to host Dawson Springs on Thursday.
