Kristina Gandy, a resident of Cadiz for more than a decade, says she’s opening up the Renew U Yoga Studio on Main Street to give people a chance to slow down for an hour a day.

“I want it to be a place for the community to come to embrace health and wellness,” Gandy said. “We need something where people of all ages can come and be more healthy and mindful of their bodies.”

The yoga studio, located on 312 Main St., will officially open at 4 p.m. on Thursday, April 4, and there will be an open house that night, with schedules available and door prizes being handed out, and regular classes will start the following day.

Gandy said that while there are still finishing touches to be done, but for the most part it’s done. It’s taken about two months to convert the space, which is about what she was expecting, and she and her husband David have worked night and day in that time.

Gandy said she will do a variety of yoga styles so that she can meet the needs of everyone in the community, from yin yoga classes, which consist of just stretching to hot yoga, which is done in a room heated to about 100 degrees Fahrenheit with high humidity, to vinyasa yoga, which is faster.
