BASEBALL: Three-game winning streak puts Trigg at 7-4

The Trigg County Wildcats entered this week on a three-game winning streak and with an overall record of 7-4.

After a 9-5 loss last Tuesday at Madisonville-North Hopkins, Trigg notched an easy 21-0 win Friday at Fort Campbell before winning a doubleheader Saturday at Union County.

Against Madisonville, Trigg Trigg held a 4-1 lead entering bottom of the fifth, when the Maroons scored three times to tie the score. The ‘Cats regained a 5-4 lead in the top of the sixth, but Madisonville plated five runs (two earned) in the bottom of the frame.

Trigg pitchers held Madisonville to three hits but issued 14 walks. Nick Allen and Trace Kuberski each drove in two runs for the ‘Cats.

Friday, Tyler Allen pitched a five-inning no-hitter, and the ‘Cats’ bats did the rest. Nick Allen had a home run and four runs batted in, Ben Wigand went 3-for-4 with four RBIs, and Tyler Allen drove in three runs. David Wease, Caleb McIntosh and Skylar Pool each drove in a pair of runs.
