Trigg County Engineering and Marketing Students pitch their projects at the Project Lead The Way KY IP (PLTWKY) Pitch Contest.

PLTWKY hosted an IP Pitch pilot contest on UK campus with support from the Von Allmen Center for Entrepreneurship and Kentucky Association of Manufacturers & Foundation of Kentucky Industry on March 13 and 14 at the UK Campus in Lexington.

The requirements to enter the contest were: Teams of three (3) maximum, who have an idea they are developing within an PLTW course. The Pitch: a 5-minute presentation to a panel of entrepreneurs and experts about a unique, creative solution to a problem, followed by a 5-minute Q&A from the Judges. Judges include business-people, entrepreneurs, professors, and educators.

The Criteria: (1)Strength/Creativity/Uniqueness of idea/Technology; (2) Description/Knowledge of the target market; (3) Revenue Model (how the venture will make money); (4)Team/Advisors; (5)Quality of overall pitch/Presentation.

Mrs. Lori Ricks and Mrs. Stacy Jones partnered their engineering and marketing students earlier in the year, so this contest was exactly what the students need to pitch their original patentable ideas.
