At 9-4, Trigg County entered this week with the best overall record in 2nd Region baseball.

The Wildcats extended their winning streak to five games with a pair of victories last week – 8-7 last Wednesday against Hopkinsville and 5-1 Thursday against Stewart County, Tenn.

Thursday, the ‘Cats scored all the runs they’d need in the second inning and added two in the fourth and one in the fifth. Dillon Dawson led the way at the plate, going 3-for-3 with three runs batted in.

On the mound, Trigg had a pair of strong performances – starter Tyler Allen pitched five innings and struck out six, while Caleb McIntosh struck out four of the six batters he faced in two innings of work.

Last Wednesday, Trigg survived a seventh-inning rally to hold off Hopkinsville. Trigg led 7-2 entering the frame but allowed five Tiger runs to tie the score.
