Monday, Trigg County High School’s baseball team kept itself in position for a possible top seed in the 5th District, while the softball team saw its losing streak extend to three games.

The Wildcats picked up a 6-2 win at Livingston Central, improving their overall record to 15-8 and their district mark to 3-1. Crittenden County is 2-0 and currently leads the district.

Balanced offense was key for the ‘Cats as five different players – Ben Wigand, Tyler Estes, Tyler Allen, Corbin Estes and Dillon Dawson – each drove in a run apiece. Tyler Estes picked up the win on the mound, striking out seven in 5 and 2/3 innings, and Brandon Wilson picked up the save.

Trigg advanced to the semifinals of the 2nd Region All “A” Classic, where the ‘Cats fell 5-1 to University Heights last Tuesday.

Trigg held a 1-0 lead until the fifth inning, when the Blazers plated three runs. The ‘Cats committed five errors in the contest.

The Lady Wildcats also played at Livingston and lost 10-0 dropping their record to 4-5 and their district mark to 0-3.
