It’s been 10 years since Trigg County’s softball team had 10 wins in a season. That benchmark is within reach in 2013.

The Lady Wildcats won a pair of one-run games in a doubleheader Thursday at Todd County Central. After an 11-1 loss Friday against Caldwell County, Trigg returned to action Monday and topped Mayfield 12-2.

That leaves the Lady ‘Cats with an overall record of 7-8 with five games left to play. Trigg was set to play at home Tuesday against Hopkinsville (results unavailable at press time) before playing Thursday at Hopkinsville. Then, Trigg will play Tuesday at Crittenden County in a doubleheader that will determine which teams get the third and fourth seeds in the 5th District Tournament.

In the first game against Todd, Trigg trailed 3-0 entering the fourth inning. The Lady ‘Cats plated a run in the fourth and three in the fifth, and Alison Russell allowed no runs after the second inning in a complete-game victory. Alexa Agosto had a double and two runs batten in, and Brittney Hallgren and Alyssa Shewey each drove in a run.
