Trigg County High School sophomore Maurice Catlett was recently featured on the “Summer Special Olympic Games Celebrate 43 years of Building Futures, Shaping Lives” broadcasting of the upcoming Summer Special Olympic Games, held for the 19th year at Eastern Kentucky University.

The featured photo shows Catlett crossing the finish line for a gold medal in the 100 meter dash last June when his team participated in the 2012 Summer Games in Richmond.

The team travelled to Murray State University last Saturday, April 27th to compete in the Area Track & Field Competition. The morning began with a rain delay and the officials of the Special Olympics Committee were forced to cancel the event due to heavy rain and thunderstorms.

The team is scheduled to travel to Richmond in June for the 2013 Summer Games. They have held several fundraisers this year to assist with expenses for their trip in June. They are scheduled to have a car wash from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, in Cadiz by Kings’ Car Sales.
