At the end of the 16th annual Trigg County Relay For Life, held at Perdue Field, Trigg County Relay For Life Committee member Patrick Dawson announced the total. After that announcement, Trigg County Relay For Life Committee Co-Chair Kathy Payton summed up the 2013 even in a nutshell as the teams began the final lap.
“This is a victory for all the advances that have been made in research and services to our cancer patients,” said Payton. “This is a victory for Trigg County in the fight against cancer.”
There were 12 teams that participated this year. Oak Grove Baptist Church was the top fundraising team, raising $30,190, with the Miss Fits team in second place by raising $25,000. The St. Stephen’s Saints were in second place, raising $8,464.
The first place youth fundraising team was the Oak Grove Baptist Church youth team. Meka’s Kids were the top Rookie team, raising $1,674. Jim Tribble, who raised $8,973, was the top fundraising individual. Raelyn and Damon Marlowe were tied for the top individual youth fundraising spot, as they both raised $329.
