Dear Parents:

Thank you for taking the time to challenge your child to be drug free. As you and I know, children will be faced with many challenges in life and one of the biggest is the pressure to use drugs. We at Trigg County Sheriff’s Office and the Pennyrile Narcotics Task Force are partnering to offer this test to you and your family to help you. We are offering these tests to help you as a first step to identifying if your child is in need of help.

We do not expect any information from you or information about your child. We want to partner with parents to help deter children from using drugs and if we are unable to prevent the drug use then we want to stop the drug problem as early in children’s lives as possible. Hopefully, this test will let your child know that you care enough to check on them and that you are watching out for them. Drug test kits may give a false positive result. Therefore, it is recommended if you have a positive result you should contact your family physician for a more conclusive drug screen.

As your Sheriff, I want to thank you again and offer our assistance to you if there is anything that we can do for you and your family. Again, we do not expect any information from you as to the results of the test. We are only offering the test to families as a tool to help parents face the challenge of raising children in today’s society. Should you have in questions, please feel free to contact me.
