Amy Breckel resigned as Trigg County High School’s girls basketball head coach on Friday, principal Shannon Burcham and athletic director Marty Jaggers confirmed.

“It was a hard decision to make, but I knew it was the right one,” Breckel said. “With where my family is right now, I feel like I need more time at home with them. There wasn’t anything else that led me to this decision, and it’s one I made with a heavy heart.”

Breckel, who is also a teacher at TCHS, said she will remain at the school and is interested in seeking other opportunities in the education field, including administration.

“Growing up in coaching for the last 13 years has really helped me become a better educator,” Breckel said. “Building relationships with players, parents, administrators and others has helped me become better at my job. I couldn’t have asked for any more support than I was given.”
