The Lady ‘Wildcats finished the regular season with a record of 9-11 and lost Monday in the semifinals of the 5th District Tournament, falling 15-0 to top-seed Livingston Central.
“There were a few games this year where we had the lead going into the final inning, but the team is so young and they don’t know how to finish yet,” Campbell said. “That’s just mentality. They need to understand that they can do it. That will come with maturity and experience, and when these freshmen are seniors, they’re going to do big things.”
Campbell, who came to Trigg last year, is leaving to join her fiancee, who is a football assistant coach at Morehead State University.
Monday, Trigg batters struck out only three times in the four-inning game against Livingston pitcher Emily Jenkins, but the Lady ‘Cats also only got the ball out of the infield once on a flyout by Arianna Brown.
