A two-year-old suffered a gunshot to the head at residence in rural Trigg County last Tuesday night and was flown to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tenn., with non life-threatening injuries, according to a report by KSP Trooper Jay Thomas.

KSP Detective Kyle Nall is investigating. Thomas’ report indicates the shooting was accidental. KSP arrived at a residence on Wildflower Way, near Cunningham Lane, at 9:16 p.m.

The child was initially taken to Trigg County Hospital, where he was stabilized and later flown to Vanderbilt, the report said.

Thomas said Tuesday morning that no more details could be publicly released, as the “non-criminal investigation” into the shooting was still ongoing.
