A Trigg County man drowned Saturday night after falling into Lake Barkley near Malcolm’s Point Road.

Everett Oliver Pennington, 63, left his Malcolm’s Point Road residence at about 8:15 p.m. and went to the community dock there to fish by himself, and after about 45 minutes, his wife was concerned and after she didn’t see him on the dock, she and a neighbor went looking for him, said Trigg County Coroner John Mark Vinson.

The neighbor found him in the water between the dock and the shore, and he was pulled from the water by Trigg County Rescue, said Vinson, who added that he fell into the water between 8:15 and 9:25 p.m. He also said the cause of death was drowning, which was precipitated by a medical condition.

“We believe that he had a medical condition that caused him to fall off the dock, to become disoriented in the water and that caused him to drown,” Vinson said.
