It’s been a busy but successful week for Trigg County High School’s baseball team.

On Thursday, the Wildcats topped Crittenden County 10-4 in the 5th District Tournament championship game.

The ‘Cats followed that with an appearance in the 2nd Region Tournament quarterfinals Monday, topping host Madisonville-North Hopkins 7-6.

Not only did the win match Trigg’s single-season record of 25, but it also marked the school’s third-ever victory in the region tournament. The single-season record was set in 2011, the last time the ‘Cats won at region.

Trigg was set to face 6th District champion Henderson County in the region semifinals on Tuesday (results unavailable at press time). The winner will advance to the championship game at 7 p.m. Wednesday against the winner of Tuesday’s game between 7th District winner Caldwell County and 8th District champ Christian County.

“Our region is so balanced,” Trigg head coach Tim Bush said. “I think everyone wanted to avoid Henderson, but after that, there’s seven of us who could beat anybody at any time.”
