A Cadiz woman died in an accident Tuesday morning involving an SUV and a tractor trailer in the 2000 block of Kings Chapel Road, Trooper Jay Thomas of the Kentucky State Police said.

Trigg County Coroner John Mark Vinson said he declared Leslie P. Baker, 26, of Kings Chapel Road, dead at the scene, which was about four miles south of Cadiz.

At about 9:15 a.m., Baker was driving an SUV south on Kings Chapel Road and, for unknown reasons, crossed over the center line and ran off of the left shoulder and into the path of a tractor trailer driven by Mike Wallace, 49, of Cadiz, who was driving northbound, hitting the tractor trailer – which was hauling an empty flatbed trailer – head on, Thomas wrote.

“She left the house this morning, running some errands inside of Cadiz, and was returning home on Kings Chapel Road when the accident occurred,” said Vinson.

Both Baker and Wallace were wearing seatbelts when the accident happened, Thomas wrote.
