LBL celebrates 50th anniversary

Join Land Between The Lakes (LBL) National Recreation Area staff to celebrate 50 years of public service beginning Saturday, June 15.

This weekend kicks off a number of events throughout the coming year marking the 50th anniversary of the designation of Land Between The Lakes by President John F. Kennedy in 1963. On June 15, come to the Golden Pond Visitor Center and Planetarium to meet the new Area Supervisor, watch the 50th Anniversary video documentary at 10:30am or 11:30am, and enjoy cake made by LBL’s Brandon Spring staff.

Join in the celebration during events at The Homeplace (HP), Woodlands Nature Station (NS), Golden Pond Visitor Center (GPVC), and Golden Pond Planetarium (GPP):

• 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.: 50th Anniversary Celebration at GPVC

• 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.: 50th Anniversary Wildlife Celebration at NS

• 10 a.m. – 7 p.m.: Pickin’ Party Old-time Music Festival at HP

• 1, 2, 3, and 4 p.m: Planetarium Shows at GPP

• 5:30 and 7 p.m.: Laser Light Music Shows at GPP ~ All seats $7

• 8 p.m.: Planetarium Show at GPP

• 9 p.m.: Star Party at GPP ~ FREE
