Funeral services for Lena Ruth Rush, 75, of Hutchinson, Kan., formerly of Caldwell County, were held on Saturday, June 15, 2013, at Elliot Mortuary and Chapel in Hutchinson, Kan. Marian Rank and Judy Spore officiated. Burial followed at Abbyville Cemetery in Abbyville, Kan.

Lena Rush died on Tuesday, June 11, 2013, at Hospice House in Hutchinson, Kan.

Lena was born on June 30, 1938, in Caldwell County to Archie and Nora Oliver.

Lena married Francis “Jim” Lanning in 1955, they divorced in 1969. On March 31, 1972, she married Edward Rush at the First Baptist Church in Hutchinson, Kan. Lena owned and operated “Club Royal” for 20 years and Lena’s Supper Club for six years.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by brothers, Lorenzo “Mort” Oliver (and wife Evelyn) and Garnett Oliver; brothers-in-law Billy Joe Hooks and Marvin Rush; sister-in-law Katherine “Penny” Rush.

She is survived by her husband, Ed Rush; brother Willie C. Oliver of Hopkinsville, sister Virginia Hooks of Cadiz; sons Bobby Lanning (and wife Tammy) and Michael Lanning, all of Abbyville, and Brian Lanning (and wife Laurie) of South Hutchinson, Kan.; daughters Deborah Lanning of Johnson City, Kan., Patricia “Trish” Abernathy (and friend Russell Sonnema) of Hutchinson, Kan.; grandsons Jeremy Lanning (and wife Dyan) of Hutchinson, Kan., Jordan Lanning of Wichita, Kan., Joshua Lanning (and fiancé Emily) of Hutchinson, Kan., Marcus Lanning (and wife Anna) of Nickerson, Kan., Tyler Lanning of South Hutchinson, Kan., Emmanuel Romans and Toby Lanning of Abbyville, Kan.; brothers and sisters-in-law Donald Rush of Pittsburg, Pa., Janice Rush of Davenport, Okla., Ellen Mitzner of Abbyville, Kan., Helen and Bud Havercroft of Hutchinson, Beulah and Wiley Van Hoose, Marian and Kenneth Rank, all of Abbyville, Kan., and Vivian Ogburn and friend Johnny Steele of Hutchinson, Kan.; granddaughters Allena “Allie” Abernathy and Cherish Abernathy, both of Hutchinson, Kan.; two great-grandsons and five great-granddaughters.
