Magdalene Calhoun died of natural causes at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 14, 2013, at her home in Cadiz.
She was born on Jan. 21, 1925, in Trigg County to Leon and Cosie Jane Downs Noel.
Magdalene was a member of Canton Baptist Church. She had retired from TVA where she worked as a cook at the former Youth Station in the Land Between the Lakes State Resort Park.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Calhoun; brother Owen Noel; two sisters, Estell Noel and Mollie Elaine Calhoun; one son, Ricky Calhoun; one daughter, Sandra Proffitt; and one daughter-in-law, Beverly Carty.
She is survived by three sons, Greg Calhoun (and wife Janet) of Cadiz, Brent Calhoun of Summerville, Ala. and Barry Calhoun (and wife Deborah) of Brownstown, Mich.; daughter-in-law Joy Calhoun of Columbia, Tenn.; son-in-law James Proffitt of Columbia, Tenn.; brother-in-law Lacy Calhoun of Grand Rivers; grandchildren Colter Calhoun, Adam Calhoun, Lori Rumley, Amy Vasko, Austin Calhoun, David Proffitt and Tina Guldberg; great-grandchildren Ryan Calhoun, Emily Calhoun, Cal Vasko, Gabe Vasko, Emmett Vasko, Ella Rumley, Emilee Proffitt, Cole Proffitt, Ben Proffitt, Sophia Guldberg and Michael Guldberg.
Serving as pallbearers were Brent, Colter, Barry, Adam, Greg and Austin Calhoun and David and Cole Proffitt. Honorary pallbearers were Jim Proffitt, Bill H. Sumner, John Leneave, Lacy Calhoun, Johnny Calhoun, Ronnie Calhoun, Perry Noel and Dan Sheehan. Music was provided by Justin and Ashley Reynold, pianist and vocalist.
