To the editor:

I was in a bad accident in January. A County Road Worker stopped and called for help and stayed at the scene with me until the Sheriff and Trigg County Rescue was on the scene. I am so thankful for all those that helped me. Trigg County Rescue Team was so careful as they cut me out of the car and put me on a board and help to load me in the air evac helicopter and off to Vanderbilt Trauma Hospital.

After 10 days in Trauma Center, I was transported to Trigg County Hospital. I had 17 broken ribs, broken sternum, clavicle, broken hip in three places, broken femur, broken tibia and fibia, broken foot and heel and ankle – no weigh on feet for three months.

When I got to Trigg County Hospital, I was pleasantly surprised how at home I felt. The staff was so concerned and kind and could not do enough for me. I had used Trigg County Outpatient Rehab in past but was never hospitalized there before. I learned quickly how lucky we are in our community to have such a good facility at our back door.

I was quite a challenge for the PT, OT and nursing staff because they don’t often get someone so badly injured like me. But they all worked very hard to accommodate my needs and give me the best health care and recovery and rehab work ever.

Dr. Godwin was at my side the evening I was brought there and assessed what my medical needs would be.

I want to thank everyone who had a part in my recovery. I am home and walking with assistance and doing outpatient PT and very grateful that I live in a community with such a professional medical facility, caring hospital staff and a doctors and nurses that genuinely care about their patients. Hats off to Trigg County Hospital, Rescue Team and caring people who stop and help.
