“Pam’s Pick” this week is another one of my favorite authors. My favorite character is of course Odd Thomas and who but me would know about Odd Thomases. “Deeply Odd” by Dean Koontz, this is an Odd Thomas novel. Odd is on the wrong end of the gun. As he dodges a bullet he can’t outrun the shocking vision in his mind of the showdown with evil.
New Fiction: “Pirate Alley” by Stephen Coonts, Grafton and Carmellini are back battling terrorists on the high seas alongside a top-notch team of Navy Seals. ⌦“Entwined with You” by Sylvia Day, this is the last book in the Crossfire trilogy. The phenomenon continues as Eva and Gideon face the demons of their pasts and accept the consequences of their obsessive desires.
“Let the Dead Sleep” by Heather Graham, this is a Cafferty and Quinn novel. Antique dealer Danni Cafferty has inherited her father’s shop. When someone comes in the sell her a statue of an evil man she soon believes she has inherited much more than she realized. Soon the statue is gone and the seller is dead. Mike Quinn is a PI and his and Dannie search for the missing statue and the mystery and death behind it.
“A Chain of Thunder” by Jeff Shaara, this is a Siege of Vicksburg novel. This is the story of the battle whose outcome still reverberates more than 150 years after the cannons stopped.
New Christian Fiction: “A Seeking Heart” by Kim Vogel Sawyer, this is the first book in the new Mountain Lake, Minnesota trilogy. Samantha is seventeen when she disguises herself as a boy to escape her drunkard father. When Samantha meets up with a Mennonite family with Russian heritage she discovers the people are as foreign to her as she is to them. Is her new life the answer to her problems?
“The Shadow of Your Smile” by Susan May Warren, this is a Deep Haven novel. Noelle and Eli Hueston are on the verge of getting a divorce when an accident erases part of her memory. She doesn’t remember Eli or their children. Can she fall in love with a man she can’t remember? Or will the secrets of their past pull them apart forever?
New Mystery: “Smarty Bones” by Carolyn Haines, this is a Sarah Booth Delaney mystery. The Zinnia Ladies call upon Sarah Booth to look into the false stories being told by a newcomer, about the Lady in Red. Sarah Booth soon discovers a present day dead body she know there’s more than just pride and Southern heritage at stake here.
New Large Print: “Seduced by Grace” by Jennifer Blake, this is book three in the Three Graces of Graydon. Lady Marguerite Milton is abducted by the Golden Knight, unaware that he is David, the man she loves. She is being used as a pawn to lure him into King Henry VII’s latest intrigue. Will she learn his true identity and can she save him?
“The Blue Ribbon Jalapeno Society Jubilee” by Carolyn Brown, this story will warm your heart and give you something to smile about. Miss Clawdy’s Café has won the Jubilee blue ribbon every year since the dawn of time. This year, town matron Violet Prescott is going after that ribbon with a determination only thinly disguised by her perfect coiffure and flawless manners, bless her heart.
