BLRWD Manager Terry Goins said the $825,000 loan and the $275,000 grant will fund the construction of a new pump station and a 300,000-gallon water storage tank on Ky. 124 – or Cerulean Road – near Cundiff Farms in the Ball Knob area, as well as the construction of almost 2 miles of water line to the tank in the Cerulean area.
Goins said it should take about a year to complete the tanks, the pump station and the line work, and that this project will help make the water system in Cerulean more reliable for the roughly 500 customers in Cerulean and Gracey. The water district services approximately 5,271 customers in the county overall.
“We’ve been seeking funding for this for about two years. We’ve been after this project for a long time, and we’ve finally got funding for it,” said Goins. “Once we let bids, it’ll probably be a year, and I’m hoping we can let bids sometimes in the late summer or early fall.”
